According to media reports, Apple Inc. has made framework-level progress with the Government of Pakistan regarding an iPhone refurbishment and potential manufacturing initiative in the country. Under Pakistan’s new Mobile and Electronics Manufacturing Policy, proposals include provision of land at concessional rates and an 8 percent performance incentive.
In the initial phase, refurbishment of 2 to 3 year old iPhones is expected, which may later be exported. The target for the first year is projected export revenue of up to 100 million US dollars.
