#walrus $WAL How Walrus Works
𧩠Erasure Coding (RedStuff)
When you upload a big file (called a âblobâ):
The file is broken into pieces.
Extra parity data is added (so it can still be rebuilt even if some parts are missing).
Shards are stored on many independent nodes. ïżœ
Superex
This makes the system:
Cheaper than full replication.
Resilient, since data can be recovered even if some nodes fail. ïżœ

đ Integration with Sui
The Sui blockchain:
Keeps track of storage payments, proofs, and data availability.
Lets developers use smart contracts to interact with stored data. ïżœ
The Defiant
Walrus storage pieces are linked on Sui, but the larger files (blobs) stay off-chain in a decentralized way.
