Taiko, an Ethereum layer-2 project, plans a major upgrade called Shasta aimed at drastically reducing rollup costs. The upgrade will simplify the system to three core contracts and cut proposing and proving gas costs significantly. Shasta is currently in internal testing and will be launched on the Hoodi testnet soon, with a mainnet launch pending DAO approval.
