This time, the finger is pointed at Diarra Emma Hopwood, a trans woman (formerly David-Sarah Hopwood), who worked as a cryptographer for $ZEC (Zcash).
Why is she being suspected?
In 2010, Satoshi made a post about “key blinding” — which later became associated with Hopwood’s work on private transactions and blinded keys.
Add to that his British citizenship, Satoshi’s use of British spelling, and his activity on GMT time — and many are starting to connect the dots.
But on closer inspection, it doesn’t quite add up.
The timeline is a bit off.
Hopwood was at the very beginning of her career in 2008-2009, when Bitcoin was being created.
Bitcoin required deep knowledge — about cryptography, distributed systems, and economic design.
This level of knowledge takes years to develop.
Also, the technical overlap is not that different.
“Key blinding” is a common concept in cryptography, used by countless people in the field.
So it’s not a specialty of any one person.
The biggest thing that doesn’t match is behavior.
Satoshi disappeared completely in 2011 and has been in hiding for over 13 years.
Hopwood, on the other hand, has always been publicly active under his real name, working on crypto.
Why would someone who worked so hard to secretly create Bitcoin and then disappear come out in the open and work on a privacy coin — where everyone knows who he is?
Such theories come up regularly — some say Nick Szabo, some say Hal Finney, and others name others.
All of them usually stand on some common ground above, which breaks down when you look closely.
This incident is following the same pattern.
Whoever it is, thank Satoshi for Bitcoin — at least for now.
Without that first step, we wouldn’t have crypto cards like @useTria today,

The entire ecosystem stands on his vision.
But let’s hope this system doesn’t one day become a weapon of global financial control — where there’s no room for privacy.
