Once a coin is in it's price discovery phase, don't stress yourself in trying to predict where it will "top", you're better of guessing when a meteor will land on the earth. 
At that point just follow the trend, so many people lost money trying to guess the top and shorted coins like BTC, Gold, RIVER, MYX, even Silver when they were (XAU and XAG are still in this phase) in their discovery phase, they got liquidated before the coin decided that they were going to cool down and stop/pause discovering.
In short, when a coin is in this phase, just ride the wave till it stops by itself, you're not big enough to stop the wave so just ride it.
