Vitalik Buterin outlines possible next steps for Ethereum.

Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin shared his vision for the future of Ethereum in a detailed blog post this week, discussing how the network will evolve after its upgrade from proof-of-work consensus mechanism to a more energy-efficient proof-of-stake.

Buterin emphasized two main areas for improvement: speed and security. He suggested using zero-knowledge proofs for privacy upgrades, which can verify transactions faster without exposing all data, and new cryptographic tools to protect the network from cyber attacks. These changes could have a significant impact on how Ethereum processes NFTs and decentralized finance (DeFi) in the foreseeable future.

BlockBar expands its NFT e-commerce platform to include handcrafted wines and spirits.

The blockchain-driven spirits market BlockBar is expanding its product range to cover smaller handcrafted wine and spirit producers.

Although the platform is known for high-end spirits, it is now shifting focus to niche distilleries and wineries to better target Gen Z and millennial consumers seeking unique products not found in traditional retail environments.

Early releases of new products include spirits from Famille Isabel Ferrando, a mother-daughter winemaking duo from Châteauneuf-du-Pape known for their carefully crafted wines. The opening selections of the event also feature rare wines from Mezcal Amarás, a sustainable producer based in Oaxaca that uses local agave and traditional techniques to craft its wines, as well as spirits from French brandy producer Armagnac Laubade.

Through BlockBar's NFT platform, collectors can own digital certificates representing these rare bottles and can redeem the certificates for physical products, with bottles shipped worldwide.
