Reporting from the @FT highlights that reduced hiring activity is intensifying worries about the state of the labor market. As a result, Americans without jobs are now experiencing longer delays in finding new work than at any time over the past four years.

Recent statistics released by the labor department indicate that it now takes an average of more than 11 weeks for a job seeker in the US to secure a new role. This represents the longest waiting period recorded since 2021. The data also shows that among the 7.5mn people actively trying to find work, 26 per cent have been searching for more than six months.

This situation is critical, particularly considering the current economic, political, and social juncture. Additionally, there is a compounding risk involved; as the duration of unemployment extends, the likelihood of an individual becoming a lot less employable rises.
