They also fund other projects and sponsor conferences and make research with prominent universities

All of these things should send them to the sky

I’m not sure if they lack good marketing or they like to play like big projects that don’t press the hype button and keep buliding quietly until they become very obvious - I mean, maybe they don’t like to be a hype-driven project for short time and act like big mature players for the long run.

Just to be clear - OG starts with the letter “O”, while 0G starts with the number “0” 😅

So I want to summarize here in the simplest way what 0g is about

When data is distributed, encrypted, and stored across thousands of independent participants, no company or government can unilaterally control, censor, or shut down AI systems or prevent them from using data. In theory, this creates a free and open environment where developers and researchers can work without centralized constraints, contributing to AI development safely and independently.

In short, distributed and encrypted data increases AI autonomy and reduces monopoly power and centralized control.

How does this work?

Data is not sent to a centralized cloud controlled by a specific company, nor is it stored entirely on a single computer. Instead, it is split into extremely small fragments, encrypted, and distributed across a large number of participant devices around the world.

Each device holds only an unintelligible fragment and cannot read, understand, or use the data on its own. When needed, the network reconstructs the full data by combining these fragments — even if some devices are offline or fail.

This ensures that data remains available, resilient, secure and open.
