What are trendlines?
Trendlines are the foundation of technical analysis, they represent the direction and speed of a specific trend.
There are two types of trendlines:
1: Bullish trendline connecting the HL’s,
2: The Bearish trendline connecting the LH’s.
How To Draw A Trendline:
A trendline is drawn by connecting atleast two HL’s or LH’s, or atleast 3 clean touches and alignment with clean market structure. A valid trendline requires a minimum of three clean touches and alignment with clear market structure (HH/HL or LH/LL).
There are different categories of Trendlines:
1: Flat trendlines: (less reliable, weak momentum)
2: Steep trendline: (aggressive move)
3: Structure aligned trendlines: most reliable
Trendlines can be traded using two primary strategies:
1:Bounce: Identify a valid trendline aligned with the market structure, we can anticipate and wait for the price to revisit the trendline, from where it will bounce back, and take entry on that direction.
Do not enter blindly, wait for confirmation candles to enter the trade.
2: Break and Retest: Mark a valid trendline and wait for a decisive break supported by strong candle closes. Avoid reacting to weak or indecisive breaks. After the breakout, wait for price to retest the broken trendline and show rejection before entering. This approach is typically used for potential trend reversals or continuation shifts. And the take profits can be marked by using the areas of support or resistance.
Risk Management:
Beginners should risk no more than 1–2% of total capital per trade. Combine trendlines with volume, liquidity zones and HTFs.
