Feast of St. Conrad of Piacenza – February 19th 🕊️
GM Binance Square faithful! 🙏
February 19th, we celebrate St. Conrad of Piacenza, Hermit & Confessor, patron against fire and of caldrons.
Born c. 1290 in noble family in Piacenza, Italy, Conrad accidentally set fire to woods while hunting, blamed a poor man, and allowed him to be punished. Struck by remorse, Conrad sold his possessions, gave the proceeds to the poor and to the innocent victim’s family, then fled to a hermitage. Later he joined the Third Order of St. Francis, lived as a hermit on Sicily for 36 years, subsisting on herbs, and was gifted with miracles and prophecy. He died 1351.
“Repentance is the beginning of salvation.”
Conrad graces for the day:
- Examine conscience for hidden injustice or negligence; make reparation if possible.
- Offer a small act of restitution or charity to someone overlooked.
- Light a candle and say: “St. Conrad, grant me true contrition and zeal for justice.”
- Quick act: forgive or help someone who has been wrongly blamed.
St. Conrad of Piacenza, pray for us that we may repent sincerely and make amends with love.
